Meet the Master

I frequently stop at the Morning Star Donut Shop in Natchitoches for Apple Fritters.

This view is very familiar to students at Northwestern State University.

I have to stop frequently because the owner, Sary Nuon, is in cahoots with Sally Halm and will only sell me one fritter at a time.

It is a 1.5 mile walk to the donut shop – so maybe Sally and Sary do have my best interest at heart.

If I will walk a mile and a half for an Apple Fritter, you know they are good.  I asked Sary what is the secret of great apple fritters. The dough? The apples? The oil?

Sary replied, “Those things are messy to make, I just tell my husband to do it.”

Yes … this little Cambodian girl is indeed a Master.

I have a goal of meeting 100 people in Natchitoches within my first year here.  Sary is number ___.  Want to be in that number? … Come visit.
